Visit

Today was another very rough day. I got to go visit with David today for the first time. Although I could not wait to see him, the process is not a pleasant one. The visits are not contact visits, which means I got to see him through a thick glass barred window about a foot and a half wide by about 2 and a half feet tall. You have to shout as there is no phone. Other loved ones are there the same time you are doing the same thing. I think I mentioned this before, but David is sending me some blog posts. I will post them as soon as I get them. I want to thank my family as they have been tremendous this week. I don't think I would have done as well as I did without them.

Lisa, May God bless you and your family. My heart breaks for you. I cannot imagine what you are going through. Lord, please be with Lisa during this time blessing her with an extra measure of Your comfort and peace. Be with David as well and help them both as they walk this path that neither ever dreamed they would be walking. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

The vast majority of posted comments on the N&O site have been as negative as expected. Yes, as expected. Most think David is spinning something, and Lisa is naive. Not unique or surprising sentiments from the public.

They opened their lives to the world and they are realistic about the consequences. They knew their motives would be questioned by most people.

But if just one man secretly using porn opened the paper, saw what he could become, and made a decision to get help, the article did what it was supposed to. This is a huge, huge problem. David and Lisa are very courageous in putting a public face on it.

They are not trying to be victims. They are not trying to be heroes. They are publicly sharing a very shameful thing in the hopes there will be fewer victims. Spinning PR man and naive spouse? In the eyes of many, probably so. In the eyes of the people and families they have already helped, there is a little more hope.
